Broome residents Doug and Shelley Gould have five kids between them and it was while searching for affordable, family-friendly sailing adventures in the Kimberley that the idea for Ahoy Buccaneers was born.

“We wouldn’t consider a trip through the Kimberley without our kids, and the available options didn’t appear to be terribly affordable”, said Doug. “So we figured that by maintaining a low crew to guest ratio, and not attempting the 5-star option we could offer a really great, affordable Kimberley experience. We bought our own charter boat and created a sailing experience that could be enjoyed by all ages – as long as they are young at heart ! And that’s how Ahoy Buccaneers was born.” Nature provides the breath taking scenery and our mandate is to match that with good times, good company and buckets of fun and….. I forgot a part of this recipe, great food!

Our concept then evolved to offer real people an affordable hands-on adventure in remote North West Australia. If you’re after a cruise that is exciting, unique, a hands on experience, then explore and seek adventure with us, sailing, fishing, mud crabbing, swimming, island hopping and whale watching. It’s our passion of the Kimberley and love-of-life mindset that steadies our sails and guides our affordable quirky approach to cruising. Taking our guests into areas inaccessible to large ships, and on excursions that are unique, unconventional, and unmatched—we offer an alternative to traditional cruises.

Our small group experience has continued to combine discovery, good old fashioned hospitable service and expertise, and Aha! moments that happen in the unplanned spaces in between expectation.

On your trip-of-a-lifetime, you’ll more than just see, do! It’s always your choice—do as much or as little as you like, lend a hand when you can and have a cracker of a time doing it—adventure activities, shore excursions and there will be still plenty of time to simply relax. You’ll be in on all the action—in the wilderness, on the water, learning about history and nature, sharing moments with newfound friends. It’s about the here and now, and the WOW! Moments.

Whether you’re traveling solo, with a companion, as a family, or in a group, Ahoy Buccaneers Adventures reveals an unimaginable way of uncovering hidden wonders while having fun. Bring the whole family and share a journey across generations—we welcome kids any age to 98 (and beyond!). Our endeavour is to create lifelong memories for our guests, all focused on activities and excursions that complement the wilderness, wildlife, culture and heritage of the places we visit.
